Peugeot’s Brazilian 208 has been spotted testing around the streets of Resende in Rio de Janeiro. This version of the Peugeot hatchback has been anticipated to hit the Brazilian market for some time now.
Presently the 208 sells in the Active, Active pack and Allure trim with a 1.5-litre engine that makes 93bhp and 142Nm of torque. The top-end version is called the Griffe and comes with a 1.6-litre motor that’s good for 122bhp and makes 164Nm of torque. Sources added that the updated sports 208 will come with the refreshed looks, a GTS badge and a bumped up power output from the same 1.6-litre engine with the option of only a manual box.
Visual upgrades, though minimalistic, can be summed up in a few design changes to the front and rear bumpers, grille, and the head lamps will now depict a dark sporty tint to them. Peugeot Brazil may roll out the subtle interior and exterior updates to the rest of the 208 lineup once the sporty variant finds its way to showrooms sometime soon.
