Earlier this year, Carwale reported that the Peugeot will be re-entering the Indian market. PSA group has signed a JV with the CK Birla group and will commence their local operations by 2020.The French manufacturer is expected to make a comeback with a hatchback, a sedan and a crossover. However, there has been a recent addition to this speculated portfolio, the Peugeot 3008. Peugeot revealed the prices for the 3008 internationally which range from Rs. 23,71,983 ($36,990) up to Rs. 31,73,546 ($49,490).
Upfront the 3008 carries the Peugeot’s family design with sleek headlamp assembly and chrome accented grille. The side profile displays SUV proportions and the top spec variant houses a set of large 19-inch alloy wheels under its flared wheel arches. The rear end carries upswept styling and has a short rear glass.
Comfort equipment in the 3008 includes dual zone climate control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirrorlink, compatible smartphone induction charging, voice recognition, sat-nav, three 12v sockets, heated front seats, while the driver alone gets eight-way power seat adjustment.
Internationally, Peugeot offers its buyers a range of diesel and petrol engines for the 3008. On the diesel front, there’s a 1.6-litre BlueHDi available in two power outputs 97bhp and 118bhp, as well as a 2.0-litre diesel with 148 or 178bhp. The Petrol powered SUV offers a choice of 129bhp 1.2-litre and 162bhp 1.6-litre engines.
The 3008 is currently sold in international markets with four trim levels – Active, Allure, GT line, GT. However, if it debuted in the Indian market the company could take away a few features from the SUV and could be offered with fewer engine options.
