Patent images released earlier this week by the European Union Intellectual Property Office might just be of a new model from Ferrari that’s based on the LaFerrari coupe. Sources add that the patent was designed by Flavio Manzoni.
With Ferrari celebrating their 70th anniversary in 2017, a special car would make perfect sense for an occasion like this. Reports confirm that this vehicle is currently being showcased at the concept car section at the Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. In fact, this isn’t the first time that this concept was showcased in the United Arab Emirates, and the earlier concepts prove that the current iteration has evolved since those exhibitions.
There has to be a reason why Ferrari keeps making adjustments to the concept car before putting it up on display. It is highly unlikely that the brand would constantly update a concept car that wasn’t going to hit production. In fact, Flavio Manzoni admitted at the LaFerrari’s introduction, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, that one of the proposed designs was kept a secret for a one-off project.
Ferrari has already begun their 70th anniversary celebrations by revealing 70 special liveries. And if the rumours are true, expect Ferrari to showcase the LaFerrari-based concept car sometime this year. Stay tuned.
