Pagani has collaborated with motorcycle protective gear company Dainese to create a new soft top material called the 'Pagani Fabric'. The innovative and sophisticated new soft top will debut on the new Huayra Roadster at the Geneva Motor Show.
According to the two Italian brands, the soft-top is a combination of high elastic modulus carbon fibre components by Pagani and technical fabric developed by Dainese. When the soft-top is closed, there are predetermined folding areas which allow the fabric to follow the folds of the structure just as in the origami technique. This system ensures the durability of the fabric over time and reduces storage space required, boasts both the brands. The different layered materials and waterproof technology used in the fabric was specially developed by the Vicenza-based firm's R and D department.
Horacio Pagani, chief designer at Pagani Automobili, commenting on newly developed soft-top, said, “Creating the reserve soft top for the Huayra Roadster was a real technical challenge. Our goal was to provide customers with a folding roof solution, one that takes up minimal space when stored in the car. The soft top was conceived as a lightweight, resistant tensostructure, in which every single element contributes to carrying out the overall function through tension.”
The soft top equipped on the Huayra Roadster offers both a comfortable driving experience and a one-of-a-kind look, says the Modena-based carmaker. After its debut at the Geneva stage, the Pagani Fabric will eventually make its way to all other drop-top supercars from the Italian marque.
