On the Dhanteras day every year, automakers in the country are accustomed to see a long list of deliveries lined up for the day. Surpassing everyone, the country’s leading players like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have collaboratively delivered over 45,000 cars on the auspicious day. From the total number, Maruti Suzuki has delivered around 30,000 units, which is about 20 per cent more than last year, while Hyundai has delivered around 15,153 units, which is about 26 per cent more in comparison to the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza and the Baleno have been the major contributor to the overall numbers. The Baleno premium hatchback has been on sale for a year now and it has already sold over 1 lakh units in the country, whereas the Brezza which has been on sale since March this year, has sold over 50,000 units. Moreover, the company still has a backlog of about 50,000 units for the Brezza which it intends on delivering before the end of this year.
Speaking about the festive season, Rakesh Srivastava, HMIL Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing said, “We expect to have 50,000-plus deliveries for the full month, making this festival season as the best in the last couple of years." As for Hyundai, the long demand for the Creta compact SUV and five year old special pricing offers on the i10 and Eon has worked wonders for the overall sales.
As both the automakers continue to impress with good sales numbers, it is likely that both the companies will continue to maintain the lead position on the charts for this year. India’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki has also been planning on introducing the Baleno SHVS with mild-hybrid technology. If launched, this particular Baleno variant can further boost the premium hatchback’s overall sales numbers in the country.
