India has been home to some of the most exotic vintage cars in the world, thanks to the largesse of the Indian royalty. From Rolls-Royces to Delahayes to Hispano-Suizas, Indians had these really expensive machines custom built to their tastes. Osian, the Indian art house, has been associated with cars for quite some time, and have decided to open an auction house for the vintage and classic cars in India.
A huge number of gems from the Indian automotive heritage have been smuggled out of the country post-independence, but, it is still a 5,000 to 6,000 car market according to Osian. It is being led by Gautam Sen, one of the eminent members of Indian automotive journalism and a vintage car expert with the experience of judging international Concours events.
The auction house should open its doors in January 2019 and it will also be the place to bid for automotive art, artefacts, mascots, vintage advertisements, catalogues & brochures, film posters, rare toy model cars and related memorabilia.
