Mercedes’ new E-Class saloon is now available to order in the UK and prices range from £35,935 (E220d SE) to £47,425 (E350d AMG Line) (Rs 34.65 to 45.73 lakh). This is the same version we expect MB to showcase in India during the Auto Expo before replacing the current car in the Indian market.
Deliveries of the new E-Class are expected to start in the UK in May and MB will introduce it in two trim levels, SE and AMG Line with two engine options, the E220d and E350d. The E220d uses an all-new four-cylinder 2.0-litre bi-turbo engine that displaces 195bhp and 400Nm of torque. A nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox now comes standard on all new UK E-Class saloon models. Acceleration to 100kmph in the new E200d takes only 7.3sec, which is 0.4sec faster than the outgoing E250CDI.
The six-cylinder E350d produces 258bhp along with 620Nm and does the 100kmph sprint in 5.9sec, 0.9sec quicker than the previous generation E350CDI saloon. A petrol-electric hybrid E350e that makes 279bhp with 600Nm of torque will also join the UK model range later in 2016.
