Stepping inside an Ola ride, and you find yourself at the mercy of the driver for all the entertainment and comfort needs, like adjusting the air-con temperature or playing the music of your preference. But no more, with Ola Play which was launched yesterday in collaboration with international firms like Apple Music, Sony LIV, Audio Compass and Fynd, you can now personalise your in-car experience in the next Ola ride.
Ola Play service will initially be available in cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi for all Ola Select customers in the coming weeks. After which it will be available on all Prime rides across other cities and in over 50,000 vehicles by mid next year. With the Ola Play, customers can transform their in-car experience using their own smart devices or can opt for the large screen devices mounted in-car with surround sound systems.
The aim of the Play service is to bring Wi-Fi, music, navigation, surround sound, and temperature management along with other things under the control of the passenger. So the passenger can choose to have a look at different locations, browse landmarks, read eBooks, watch their favourite videos, or even look for places to shop while riding in their Ola cab. The platform’s hardware has been built in partnership with chip-maker Qualcomm and makes use of India’s diverse music genre collected from the data of Ola customers from over 100 cities.
Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and CEO of Ola said, “With over 60 million minutes spent in Ola rides every day, the impact on consumer comfort, convenience and productivity can be transformative. This will further propel ride-sharing as the first choice of mobility for many more millions. Apple Music brings the best features together for an experience every music lover will appreciate. Coming together with the market leader in music will completely transform the ride experience for millions of Indians on the move.”
