Tata has officially released images of its Harrier premium SUV. The car will be launched in India in early 2019 and is a production version of the H5X SUV concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
Signature design elements found on the harrier comprise the sleek LED DRLs positioned below the bonnet, the grille, black coloured cladding at the base and the black applique at the rear that surrounds the tail lamps and runs the width of the SUV.
The Harrier, is underpinned by Tata’s new OMEGA architecture and will be underpinned by a new 2.0-litre diesel engine developed for this vehicle. The official images reveal that Tata has begun production of the car at its Pune plant.
In an official statement, the automaker has said that the Tata Harrier needed a completely new approach to product development and manufacturing processes. The completely new world-class assembly line has been built in a record time of six months with the best manufacturing practices adopted from Jaguar Land Rover. It boasts of 90 per cent automation levels with over 100+ KUKA and ABB robots.
Commenting on the unveiling of the Harrier as well as the rollout of the first car from the production line, Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors said, “We have been receiving a tremendous response from the customers ever since we opened bookings of the Harrier, a fortnight ago. With the all-new assembly line ready and the rollout of the 1st Harrier, we are now gearing up to start deliveries in early 2019. The Harrier, with its stunning design, will definitely appeal to customers, especially those who have eagerly waited for the product since its showcase as the H5X concept at the Auto Expo 2018. We are confident that the Harrier will set new benchmarks in the SUV segment, in 2019.”
