Skoda has announced that it will launch the Octavia sedan for the Indian market at a function in Delhi on October 3. It was unveiled for the Indian market on the ninth of August in Mumbai was previously spotted testing outside Pune sans camouflage on multiple occasions. The Czech automaker has already begun production of the car and we expect that deliveries will begin a few days after the launch.
The 2013 Octavia was launched for the global market last December, and follows Skoda’s new Vision D design philosophy found on the Europe spec 2013 Rapid. The most distinctive feature of the facia is the redesigned grille baring a refined Skoda badge. The rear gets Skoda’s signature ‘C’ shaped, full LED taillight cluster and a Skoda emblem embossed in black and white. The exterior gets softer lines and round edges to give the car a more premium appeal.
The India spec Skoda Octavia will be offered in three trim levels; Active, Elegance and Ambition and with three engine options which comprise a 1.8-litre petrol, 1.4-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. Transmission options include a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual across both engines. We expect that Skoda will price the Octavia in the range of Rs 14 lakh to Rs 18.5 lakh for the top-spec elegance diesel Automatic variant. It will compete with the Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence and the Volkswagen Jetta.
