Three weeks after we exclusively brought to you the introduction of the Scala RxE, Renault India has announced the induction of the entry level RxE variant to its Scala diesel lineup. Priced at Rs 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the base model is half a lakh cheaper than the RxL variant.
Compared to the RxL variant, the entry level model misses out on features like climate control, passenger side air bag, driver height adjustable seat, rear defogger and alloy wheels. The model though, is equipped with essential features for its segment such as ABS and anti-pinch power windows and is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill that sits in the RxL and RxZ variants that produces 85PS and 200Nm of torque. The RxE variant uses a five-speed manual gearbox to transmit its power to the front wheels.
Like other models from the Renault arsenal, the sedan is offered with Renault’s Complete Care Package which has 2+2 years/80,000km warranty along with roadside assistance and navigation assistance.
Renault has priced the entry level variant aggressively and has provided a decent value for money car with ample leg room and useful features. But for a moderate sum of Rs 5000 more, the Nissan Sunny XL Diesel offers a more sensible package with the variant providing premium features like climate control and passenger airbag.
