Yesterday, we had published a report saying that Renault might recall the Pulse hatchback and Scala sedan after Nissan India issued a recall for 22, 188 units of the Micra and Sunny to replace the brake master cylinder. The cars have been manufactured at their Chennai plant between June 2012 and March 2013. Now Renault has issued an official statement recalling 2836 units of the Pulse and 4180 units of the Scala that had been manufactured in the same period to replace the brake master cylinder.
The company has issued an official statement saying “In keeping with Renault's high quality standards and as a proactive and preventive measure, Renault is conducting a voluntary recall campaign in India on 2836 Pulse and 4180 Scala vehicles, respectively, produced between the first of June 2012 and 15th of March 2013 to replace the brake master cylinder at no cost to the customer.”
However, Renault has not specified how it will notify its customers in this regard. We will provide you more details in this regard as soon as the company informs us.
Edit: Renault India has said that it will contact all the affected customers at the launch of our voluntary campaign and Renault India dealers will replace the brake master cylinder and brake fluid at no cost to the customer.
