Its official, Nissan will launch the facelifted Micra hatchback at a function in Mumbai on the third of July. The facelifted Nissan Micra hatchback was first spotted in Thailand in March and subsequently launched there a month later. We have already driven the car and know all the changes that the Japanese automaker has made to the India spec model. We also know that Nissan will introduce an automatic variant as well as a low cost model, dubbed the Micra Active that will arrive a few months after the facelifted Micra.
Nissan has given the facelifted Micra a host of cosmetic changes both inside and outside. These changes have given the car a new and refreshed look despite retaining the same overall design. Under the hood, the Micra will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol that produces 75PS and 104Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre oil burner that produces 65PS and 160Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual. Nissan will now also launch an automatic version of the Micra that will be powered by 1.2-litre petrol but has been mated to the Japanese automaker’s Xtronic CVT gearbox.
The launch of the Ford EcoSport and its incredible price is something that Nissan will have to seriously consider if it wants to sell the facelifted Micra in good numbers. The Nissan Micra also competes with the Hyundai i20, Honda Brio, Tata Indica Vista and the Volkswagen Polo.
