Maruti Suzuki will launch the Wagon R Stingray in India on 21 August at an event in Delhi. The Stingray is basically a cosmetic update of the hatchback with aggressive styling and a few segment first features. The new version will be positioned above the existing Wagon R in an attempt to boost numbers as the industry continues to reel under the pressure of slowdown.
The Wagon R Stingray has been spotted a couple of times during shots and at dealerships revealing more than a few bits about the car. The front of the car has maximum changes with new bumper and large air dam, restyled fog lamp console, sleek front grille and refreshed headlamp cluster with projector unit (first in segment). The tail has also been stylized with slim clear lens lamps, boot spoiler and chrome inserts.
The overall design on the interiors is unchanged, but it is updated with newer colours and additional features. The Wagon R Stingray gets steering-mounted audio controls and the top-end variant should boast of two-airbags and ABS-EBD. The oily bits of the car will remain unchanged with 1.0-litre petrol engine doing the duty under the hood with same 67bhp output.
The prices of the Wagon R Stingray are expected to be around Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 more than that of the standard version starting close to Rs 4 lakh. Stay tuned to CarWale for more details of the car including prices, features, specs and variants live from the launch event in Delhi.
Edit: The Maruti Suzuki Stingray has been launched for Rs 4.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
