Jaguar has launched the locally assembled version of the XF sedan for Rs 44.5 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The CKD XF will be assembled at the automakers Pune plant and will join the Land Rover Freelander 2 (since May 2011) as the second locally assembled model from JLR.
The locally assembled XF will be powered by the 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, which produces 187bhp and 450Nm of torque and this is the first time Jaguar is bringing this engine to the country. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a new ZF eight-speed gearbox.
Jaguar has also said that the XF will be fitted with an array of standard features such as rear view camera, TV Tuner, navigation System, front passenger seat away, touch screen, gear shifting paddles, full size spare wheel, electric sunroof and rear screen electric blind.
Commenting on the launch, Rohit Suri, vice president, Jaguar Land Rover India said: “Our best-selling models in India are the Land Rover Freelander 2 and the Jaguar XF and this has driven the move to build these products locally. The Jaguar XF has become very popular with our customers due to its sports car performance, outstanding luxury saloon elegance and contemporary individual styling."
Its inspired engineering and technological innovation have helped it to win more than 100 awards internationally. So we are now delighted to offer this car as a locally built product with a new engine for this market, which will enable us to provide our customers with a wider choice of competitively priced models," he added.
