Jaguar has announced via its official Facebook page that it will launch the F-Type roadster for the Indian market on July 8. The F-Type is the spiritual successor the legendary E-Type and was unveiled globally by the British Automaker at 2012 Paris Motor Show. The car has already been spied testing outside Pune.
The Indian market is likely to get the 3.0-litre V6 mill that produces 380PS and 460Nm of torque as well as the top of the line 5.0-litre supercharged V8 mill that produces 495PS and 625Nm of torque. Both variants will get the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The cabin design of the F-Type is based on their new “1+1 philosophy” – driver oriented cabin with an asymmetric centre stack featuring a prominent grab handle.
We expect that Jaguar to price the F-Type in the region of Rs 70 lakh to Rs 90 lakh in a bid to ensure a price difference between it and the XKR sportscar. We also believe that the larger, more practical but equally powerful XFR-S sedan should also make its way here by the end of the year.
Edit: The Jaguar F-Type has been launched in India for Rs 1.37 Crore (ex-showroom Mumbai)
