Suzuki has officially released the pictures of their new hatchback- the Alto. The manufacturer will launch the hatchback for the Japanese domestic market on December 22.
The details of the car were available earlier through the leaked pictures, however, now with the official images much more details are available. The fascia sports a retro-looking grille and a straightforward bumper with simple design. The grille gets asymmetrical slats, while the quadrilateral-shaped inserts house the rectangular and circular dual set of headlamps. Similar to the A-star, the crease on the shoulder line flows in a straight line until it is swept upwards near the rear window. Another sporty version will be made available later which gets a dual tone paint scheme, a bonnet scoop and dual fog lamps on the bumper.
The cabin also carries forward the company's retro approach in designing the car. The dashboard layout is simple yet features a mix of circular and rectangular AC vents. Similarly, the instrument cluster is an analog speedometer with a digital panel displaying different information. The classic look is again propagated with the gear lever mounted on the centre console.
The new Suzuki Alto is powered by the 660cc three-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 54bhp of power and 63Nm of torque. This mill will come mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox. The company might offer a four-wheel-drive model as well, depending on the variant. A Turbo RS variant is also expected to be launched after the standard models go on sale in Japan.
This new Suzuki Alto is totally different from the one Maruti Suzuki recently launched in India. This model is not expected to come to our country anytime soon as the current vehicle is doing fairly good in the Indian car market.
