Earlier this week, Hyundai teased a few sketches of their upcoming facelifted Sonata, however, sources now report that the official image has leaked.
Going by the looks of it, the picture portrays the standard version of the saloon. And this ideally means that the souped-up version, called the Sport 2.0T in the United States, will get sportier styling. Though the design, as such, isn’t as enticing as the teaser sketches, the brand has done a good job at upgrading the overall look.
From the pictures, it looks like the facelifted Sonata gets new head lamp internals with revised LED DRLs, a larger front grille, and a redesigned bumper with bigger air dams. Reports suggest that there may be minor design tweaks at the rear too, like a mildly reworked bumper, reshaped boot lid and new tail lamps. Though there’s no word yet from Hyundai about the changes to the engine line-up, rumours state that Hyundai may plug their new turbocharged 275bhp, 2.0-litre petrol engine (from the i30 N hot hatch) into the facelifted Sonata’s line-up.
Stay tuned to CarWale as Hyundai is expected to launch the facelifted Sonata in Korea, in the weeks to come.
