Honda has confirmed via a countdown timer on its official website that it will launch the Amaze sedan on April 11. The website also confirms that bookings for the car have officially opened. We had earlier spoken to dealers who had committed to delivering the car in the next three months.
The Honda Amaze diesel sedans will be the Japanese automakers first oil burner for the Indian market. The Honda Amaze diesel sedan is a sub-four metre car and will be powered by a 1.5-litrei-DTEC mill which produces 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The car has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 25.8kmpl which is the highest in the country right now.
The Amaze will also get a petrol variant that will be powered by a 1.2-litre mill which produces 88PS and 109Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic of which the latter made its debut on the Brio Automatic in October last year.
We expect that Honda will price the Amaze sedan in the range of Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 8 lakh, of which the latter will be the price for the top-end VX diesel, a variant specific to Amaze. It is expected to cost Rs 30, 000 more than its nearest rival the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, as Honda cars generally command a premium over their competition.
Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you all the details from the launch as they happened.
