Official bookings for the Ford EcoSport are expected to begin in June. CarWale had reported in February that Ford dealers had been charging between Rs25, 000 to Rs 50, 000 for unofficial bookings for the compact crossover, but had to stop due to excess demand and lack of official word from the company. Now it seems that with bookings starting in June, the car will mostly be launched by the end of this month and consequently deliveries will begin in July.
The Ford EcoSport is one of the most highly anticipated cars in the Indian market for 2013. It is a sub-four metre compact crossover and will be offered with two sets of petrol engines and one diesel mill of which the former includes the award winning turbocharged 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine. The Ford EcoSport is likely to be offered in four trim levels.
Among the new features being offered with the EcoSport will be the SYNC technology that has been developed by Microsoft for the American automaker and is currently in use across many of its models globally.
The SYNC technology will include a life-saving Emergency Assistance system when the urban SUV goes on sale in the country. Emergency Assistance is a vehicle-based, no-cost, non-subscription call-for-help system that is already available in more than 5 million Ford vehicles globally, providing the owner with peace of mind when travelling. The service is provided free for the ownership cycle of the vehicle.
Emergency Assistance works by delivering a critical voice message directly to emergency operators, indicating that a vehicle has been involved in an accident in which the airbags have been deployed or fuel pump shut off triggered and opens the line for hands-free communication.
The Ford EcoSport media drive is currently taking place in Goa and we will bring you all the details about the car shortly, so stay tuned CarWale.
