Fiat India will be launching the 2013 Linea T-Jet at a function in Mumbai on June 10. The car was supposed to be launched earlier this year but was pushed back due to various reasons. It had been discontinued earlier due to low demand, but returned to the Italian automaker’s website in April.
The car will sit on the top of the Linea range and is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 114bhp and 200Nm of torque making it one of the most powerful and sporty vehicles in the C-Segment in India.
The company has tied up with the upcoming movie, Man Of Steel for the promotional activities of the car. The 2013 Fiat Linea T-Jet won’t be getting any cosmetics changes on the exteriors and will continue to look the other Linea variants. There is a possibility the car will come with refreshed interiors along with new colour.
The Linea T-Jet will get disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS with EBD, automatic door lock, central door locking, double crank prevention system, driver seat belt warning light, dual stage front airbags with early crash sensors, fire prevention system and immobilizer.
Fiat had updated the Linea and Punto last year during the Auto Expo in Delhi, but did not introduce the facelifted T-Jet. One of the reasons Fiat opted out is because of low demand for petrol cars in the country. However, Fiat is now overhauling its image in India and plans to introduce sporty models including the Abarth Punto. It is also possible that the facelift will later extend to rest of the Linea variants.
