Earlier this year, Nissan announced its plans to introduce up to eight new models for the Indian market by 2021. From that list, we have already seen the 2017 Terrano, which was launched in Indiayesterday. Although it was speculated earlier that the second generation model might be launched in early 2017, reports now indicate that the new X-Trail Hybrid might be introduced by the end of this year.
The upcoming Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that is mated to a six-speed CVT transmission. Hooked to a 31Kw motor the vehicle will generate around 180bhp of power. Interestingly, we believe that the upcoming model might also get a 4-wheel drive system and a seven-seat combination, which is indeed a first in the segment. Speaking about the upcoming vehicle Satinder Singh Bajwa, Vice President - Sales, Network and Customer Relations, Nissan Motor India cited that the new model might address rising pollution levels in major cities like New Delhi and Mumbai as well as other cities which might also face similar situations.
In terms of features, the new Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will get leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats and touchscreen infotainment system. As for safety and convenience, Nissan will equip the X-Trail with features like vehicle dynamic control, hill start, ABS and active ride control. More details about the vehicle will be known in the months to follow. We anticipate that the Nissan X-Trail Hybrid might be priced between Rs 30 lakh – Rs 35 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Along with Toyota Camry, the vehicle will also compete against the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V.
