The Nissan X-Trail will be launched for the Indian market in early 2017 and will come here via the CBU route. This will be the second generation for the Indian market and will be offered this time in a hybrid setup.Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, this new SUV will be offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 31Kw electric motor that have a total output of 180bhp. This has been mated to a CVT which sends power to the front wheels. In terms of design, this new X-Trail looks to be an evolution of the older model but with all the modern Nissan design hallmarks.Given that this new car will be a CBU, it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 32 lakh to Rs 38 lakh putting it in contention with the Honda Accord Hybrid as well as Toyota Camry Hybrid. The latter currently rules the roost as it is locally assembled and enjoys the benefits offered under the FAME scheme. However, with a growing demand for SUVs and the crossover body style, the X-Trail looks to have an advantage.
