Ever since its arrival in the Indian market in 2012, the Evalia has struggled a bit in terms of sales in the MPV segment. Nissan though, is looking to turn things around with yet another updated version of the Evalia.
Having launched a facelifted version in October last year, the Japanese carmaker has silently introduced an updated Evalia featuring minor styling changes and a more upmarket cabin. According to Indian Autos Blog, the updated MPV has hit Nissan dealerships, and that delivery process has commenced.
On the outside, the only significant update is the new grille featuring Nissan’s familiar V-shaped chrome element also seen in the Terrano compact SUV. Inside, the cabin gets a faux-wood finish and a glove box lid, improving the overall ergonomics of the vehicle.
Under the stubby hood lies the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine found in the outgoing model. This 4-cylinder turbocharged unit from Renault Nissan’s engine family is offered in a variety of other cars including the Terrano, Verito, Micra and the Fluence. Producing 85bhp of power and 200Nm of torque, the engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox which helps the MPV deliver a class-leading fuel efficiency figure of 19.3kmpl.
The updated Evalia range is priced between Rs 8.49 lakh and Rs 10.67 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The MPV, as before, competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and the upcoming Honda Mobilio.
