Nissan has struck a deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to sponsor all the major cricketing events till 2023. The deal covers all the important international cricket tournaments including the World Cup, Champions Trophy, ICC World Twenty20, Under 19 events, Women’s cricket and qualifying events.
The sponsorship deal will give Nissan lot of visibility in the Indian subcontinent, where the sport has a huge fan following. The cricket is also a big sport in other right-hand drive markets like UK, South Africa and Australia, where Nissan exports cars from the Indian facility. The first big event with the Nissan branding will be the ICC World Twenty20 event in 2016.
Commenting on the new partnership, ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said, “The ICC is delighted to welcome Nissan on board as a Global Partner and we look forward to working together for the next eight years to deliver a strong partnership at all ICC’s global events.
