Nissan to launch NISMO kits on Indian models

Nissan India may have had bit of a struggle in achieving big sales numbers, but the Japanese carmaker has always been active in displaying its enthusiastic side in the form of the GT Academy driver training programme or this year’s Nissan Carnival. Now, the brand is looking to scale up a notch by introducing performance-oriented NISMO kits for the Indian models at select dealerships.

But before you get all excited, we would like to point out that the brand isn’t planning on bringing in full-on NISMO developed cars like the GT-R NISMO or the 370Z NISMO. Instead, Nissan India is looking to introduce NISMO designed exterior body kits for cars such as the Micra and the Sunny.

Nissan already sells NISMO performance kits for the Micra and the Sunny in select Asian markets. The kits include neatly designed body kits, different alloys and wider tyres. In terms of performance upgrades, the brand also offers a sports exhaust and a sportier suspension set up with lowered ride height.

Nissan India, however, may limit the NISMO goodness to just the body kits for the India-spec Micra and the Sunny. That being said, this is a good move from the brand to officially offer Japanese-spec accessories, given the fact that putting on aftermarket parts generally voids the warranty of a vehicle.
