Nissan has officially revealed the variants and features for its upcoming Terrano SUV. The Renault Duster based compact SUV was unveiled for the Indian market on August 20 and bookings have already begun. Expected to be launched during the festival season, the Terrano will be made available in four variants, two engine options as well as two manual transmission options.
The Nissan Terrano will be offered with one petrol engine and one diesel engine in two states of tune just like the Renault Duster. The petrol is a 1.6-litre mill that produces 104PS and 145Nm of torque while the diesel is a 1.5-litre mill that can be had either in an 85PS+200Nm of torque or 110PS+248Nm of torque. Like the Renault Duster, the petrol engine and the 85PS diesel have been mated to a five-speed manual while the 110PS has been mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Nissan is offering the Terrano in four different variants; XE, XL, XV and XV premium of which the XV and XV premium are only available with the 110PS diesel engine. The feature list is extensive on the Terrano as it has picked up most of the elements from the Duster but even the most basic variant gets a driver’s side airbag, all four power windows and a multi information display.
The top spec XV premium variant gets ABS+EBD, brake assist, 2-DIN music system, front fog lamps, dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, gear knob, seats and finally wood finish for the armrests and door trim. There will be six colour options; pearl white, blade silver, sapphire black, bronze grey, sterling grey and finally fire red.
With such an extensive list of features and mechanical options we expect that the Terrano will be priced in the range of Rs 8.25 lakh to Rs 12.75 lakh making it around Rs 50, 000 more than the equivalent variant of the Duster. When launched, it will compete with the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster. It is also expected to give most of the C-segment sedans a run for their money thanks to the extensive feature list and SUV like stance.
