Nissan will launch the Terrano compact SUV for the Indian market at a function in Chennai tomorrow. It was officially unveiled here on August 20 and is based on the Renault Duster. It is the last rebadged product from the Nissan-Renault alliance for the Indian market and will be priced higher than its French sibling under the terms of their agreement. We have already driven the car and you find links to the written review as well as our video review on the compact SUV.
The Nissan Terrano compact SUV will be offered in one petrol and five diesel variants, three engine options as well as two gearboxes. The Japanese automaker is offering the Terrano in six shades; pearl white, blade silver, sapphire black, sterling grey, bronze grey and fire red. During the launch, Nissan had announced that the Terrano would be priced below Rs10 lakh.
Bookings for the compact SUV began on the first of September and we expect that deliveries for the car should begin a few days after the launch. When launched, the Nissan Terrano will compete with the Ford EcoSport and obviously the Renault Duster. We expect that Nissan will price the Terrano Rs 60,000 to Rs one lakh more than the equivalent variant of the Duster.
