The upcoming Nissan Terrano premium SUV is likely to be launched in October and will mostly be priced at Rs 8.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) according to a report from Motorbeam. The report also suggests that the Nissan will only introduce diesel variants of the vehicle due to the low demand for petrol models of the Duster that Renault has been facing.
The Nissan Terrano will be offered in four variants; XL, XL (O), XV and XV premium of which all will be powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K Renault diesel mill. This engine will mostly be offered in two states of tune; 85 PS, 200Nm of torque and 110PS and 248Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
They have also released what is believed to be a studio picture of the Terrano. It reveals that the SUV gets the Nissan grille, revised alloy wheels and most likely a new design for the tail lamps. However, it seems that Nissan has retained the wide front air intake and Duster defining double barrel headlights but now in a smoked design. It is likely that the interiors too will remain the same but with major rebadging.
The Terrano will be produced at Nissan’s Oragadam Plant alongside the Micra hatchback, Sunny sedan and Evalia MPV, expanding Nissan’s locally-built model range to four. The 8.90 lakh price tag means that the Terrano is roughly Rs 17, 000 more than the equivalent Duster model and this is expected to be increase depending on the variant.
