Nissan has officially started selling the Terrano in Russia, six months after the model's first launched here in the Indian market. The compact SUV has been launched with prices starting at 677,000 Roubles which accounts to around Rs 11.60 lakh. What's interesting, however, is that the Terrano costs significantly less than the Renault Duster which is also sold in Russia. We say interesting because it’s the Duster which is cheaper of the two here in the Indian market.
Like the India-spec Terrano, the model sold in Russia is also offered with a variety of trim levels. There are 10 variants, 2 engine and 3 gearbox options to choose from. Most variants come powered by a 2-litre petrol engine producing 135bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. The rest of the bunch gets a smaller 1.6-litre unit putting out 102bhp and 145nm.
Now, as for the all-important changes between the India-spec and the Russia-spec models, we would like to say that there aren’t many. Nonetheless, the biggest differentiating bit is the all black cabin of the Russia-spec Duster which lends a very sporty feel to it. Also, it looks like Nissan has fitted a bigger, more upmarket audio system for Russian buyers.
Unlike the India-spec model, the Terrano in Russia can be had either with front or all-wheel drive configuration. Now at first it may seem a bit unfair to us Indians but factor in the tricky weather and extreme road conditions that is ever so common in Russia and it seems apt that an all-wheel drive model is present in the lineup.
