Ever since its arrival in the Indian market in 2012, the Renault Duster has been awarded for a number of traits including a rugged design, a comfortable interior and good performance. It’s a similar story with the Nissan Terrano, a car which is basically a Duster under the skin.
Now that the Duster is available with an all-wheel drive version, one can expect its Nissan derivative to be also made available with the same hardware. Nissan India, it seems, is on to just that as it prepares to launch an all-wheel drive variant for the Terrano. According to a report by Indian Autos Blog, the Japanese automaker will launch the all-wheel drive Terrano sometime next year.
Like the Duster AWD, the Terrano will be powered by the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine developing 110bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. The engine will be matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox. And like the Renault, the Terrano will benefit from various off-road driving aids like anti-skid system, electronic torque control, ESP, and hill Start function.
When launched, the Terrano AWD will rival the Mahindra XUV 500 AWD which uses a rather modern 4WD system featuring an on-demand torque management system.
