In a bid to provide Chinese customers with a new level of luxury, Nissan has exhibited a special edition of the Teana at the Guangzhou Motor Show. This Teana VIP is a long wheelbase version of the current Teana and boasts of added comforts.
The present Nissan Teana has a wheelbase measuring 2,775 mm and this VIP edition of the Teana gets an extended wheelbase by 125mm, making it a lengthy 2,900 mm. This wheelbase is in fact 80 mm longer than a Lexus ES. So the passengers are now pampered with loads of space, more importantly, offering more legroom at the back. The new luxury features include a larger sunroof and a rear entertainment system with independent monitors, integrated into the seats and connected to 13 Bose speakers.
Nissan has been celebrating its 40th anniversary in China this year. Therefore, the Teana VIP is an expression of the long heritage of Nissan. The company is also displaying a vintage Cedric which has been brought from the Nissan Heritage Collection in Japan. Considering China to be an important market, the automaker is also expecting sales to reach 1.27 million units this year.
Roel De-Vries, Corporate Vice-President, Nissan, said, “Many customers in China seek a truly high-end luxury sedan. To respond to such needs, we developed a long wheelbase version of the new Teana, with the luxury and valued heritage that goes back 40 years to the Cedric, exclusively for the Chinese market.”
