Nissan India will soon launch the facelifted Sunny in the Indian market. Spied first in China last year, the spacious C-segment sedan now sports a refreshed new look and is better equipped with new features. As part of its mid-life refresh, the new Sunny takes its design cues from the bigger Teana and, as a result, it looks more grown up and contemporary than the outgoing model.
The Sunny facelift will soon hit the showrooms with two engine and two gearbox options to choose from – spawning eight variants in all. While the petrol powered variants will feature a 1.5-litre engine producing 98bhp of power, the diesel variants will get a 1.5-litre dCi unit which is currently found in a variety of models from Nissan and Renault. The petrol powered Sunny will be available with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The diesel model, however, only gets the 5-speed manual unit.
As for the variants, the Sunny facelift is being offered in a total of eight variants – XE, XE D, XL, XL CVT, XL D, XV D, XV Premium Pack 1 and XV Premium Pack 2. The latter two Premium Packs available on the top-spec XV are the latest addition to the Sunny’s variant line-up.
The entry-level Sunny XE comes standard with body coloured bumpers, dual trip meter with DTE and fuel consumption function, tilt adjustable power steering, follow me home headlights, central locking and speed sensing door lock. Meanwhile, the top-spec Sunny XV with Premium Pack 2 is properly loaded with standard features including alloy wheels, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, audio system with USB connectivity and display for audio, climate control, piano black cluster with silver accents, push-button start and some more.
Nissan hasn’t skimped on safety features either. There’s front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist and immobiliser on the top-spec variant. Even the entry-level variants get driver airbag and ABS with EBD as standard.
Lastly, the pricing for the new Sunny has been kept under wraps since the car has not officially gone on sale as of yet. However, do expect this new model to demand a bit of premium over the outgoing Sunny; Having said that, if Nissan manages to price it aggressively, this refreshed model may well put up a respectable performance in the C-Segment market.
