Nissan unveiled the revamped Sunny at the Auto Expo in February this year. The company is now preparing to launch the revised car in India and according to a media report, the facelifted car will reach the dealerships this June.
The external modification remind one of the facelifted Nissan Micra. Coming to the front of the car, it gets bling for the fascia in terms of a chrome-laden bumper. Rounding off the new look are the new headlights and the revised grille. The chrome embellishments are seen on the front lip of the bumper and below the round fog lamp inserts. A look at the side reveals no changes, while the raised rear lends the car a sporty look.
The changes inside the cabin are similar to that in the Micra. The dashboard is painted in gloss black while the interiors come in beige. The top-end variant gets a touch screen infotainment system and we expect the recirculating fan at the rear to be continued in this facelifted model.
The facelifted Nissan Sunny will be powered by the same set of engines that the present Sunny is powered with. This means a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 98bhp of power and 134Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel mill that churns out 85bhp of power and 200Nm of torque will be carried over to the revamped vehicle. Both engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox while the petrol variant will also be offered with a CVT gearbox.
The Sunny sedan was launched in India in 2011 and as a revision to the product life cycle of the car, Nissan unveiled the facelifted version of the Sunny at the Auto Expo. Though the carmaker did not confirm the launch dates at the biennial event in February, the car is still due for a launch and June is when we can expect the vehicle to go on sale. It will go up against the Honda City, VW Vento, Hyundai Verna and the Renault Scala in the Indian car market.
