The Nissan Sunny automatic sedan is due to be launched soon and now the petrol heads at team-bhp have got their hands on a dealer document which shows that the car has been priced at Rs 8.92 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) and is Rs 42, 000 lesser than the Renault Scala RxL AT which has been priced at Rs 9.34 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The document also reveals that the CVT gearbox will only be offered with the XL petrol variant.
The Nissan Sunny XL automatic, in addition to the regular features of the Sunny XL manual, will also have keyless entry, a start-stop button and chrome door handles on the inside. It will be powered by the four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol mill producing 99.4PS and 134Nm of torque.
The transmission is Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT. The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that offers seamless shifts, unlike the conventional torque-convertor boxes. It has unlimited gear-rations, offering better economy – in fact the ARAI efficiency figures of the Renault Scala AT petrol are better than those of the manual transmission and we expect the same for the Sunny Automatic versus its manual sibling.
The Nissan automatic will compete with the Honda City AT, Ford Fiesta AT, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid and the Renault Scala AT obviously. Now with prices and cars reaching the dealerships, we expect that Nissan will launch the car shortly.
