Nissan has announced a new exclusive edition to the GT-R. What makes this car special is that it will now get an exclusive Midnight Opel paint job done by hand to give a more exotic finish. The Midnight Opal colour also has a two-tone effect, changing its hue depending on light conditions and viewing angle.
Nissan claims that the special edition though is not limited to just the paint colour. The model includes a dry carbon-fibre rear spoiler and a forged aluminium wheels with titanium finish that will reduce unsprung mass. To add to this exclusivity list, the car will bear a gold finished number plate to emphasize the car’s uniqueness. To top it all, only 100 examples of these will be rolled out by Nissan.
But, apart from the paint and the badge, all of the other features are already available as optional extras with the standard GT-R. The current turmoil in the market is making auto manufacturers take desperate measures, but when the iconic GT-R goes through such a superficial makeover to stand different it makes one wonder, is beauty now only skin deep?
