Nissan India has reported a domestic sale of 3,711 units in December 2016 as compared to 3,065 units in the same month of 2015. This accounts for a year-on-year increase of 21 per cent. These domestic sale figures are a combined count of Nissan and Datsun vehicles in India.
In addition to that, Nissan and Datsun’s combined sales for the first three-quarter of the fiscal year 2016 has observed a growth rate of 50 per cent. However, compared to previous month of November when it sold 3,975 units, there is a drop to 3,711units in December on account of demonetisation in India. The sales growth between April and December of 2016 of both the manufacturers combined is second-fastest among car brands in India as compared to same period last year.
Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India, commenting on the sales results said, “Nissan India achieved healthy sales in December by posting 21 percent year-on-year growth despite the challenges of the demonetisation issue. This strong performance came on the back of continued success and great customer response to the Redigo. We have achieved consistently strong sales in the first three-quarters of this fiscal year. The growth achieved from April through December positions us as the second-fastest growing company in the passenger vehicle segment in India.”
