Nissan motors India recorded a 185 per cent sales jump for the month of August 2012 as compared to corresponding period in the previous year. The company saw the sales sore to 3953 units compared to 1384 units in August 2011.
The Sunny sedan with diesel option was the main contributor to the numbers, followed by the Micra hatchback; totaling 3944 units.Its other models like the Teana, X-trail and the 370 Z accounted for the remaining numbers.
Commenting on the performance, Takayuki Ishida, MD Nissan Motor India said, "It is extremely encouraging to see the made-in-India Sunny going from strength to strength within the market. Our commitment and focus is on introducing more locally-produced models that offer increased value to our customers.”
We expect the Japanese carmakers sales figures to rise much higher after the launch of its Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo competitor, the Evalia, a model that is already doing well globally as it has been chosen to become the new London and New York taxi cab.
