Nissan India will soon launch the facelifted Micra hatchback for the Indian market and has previewed the car on its official website and Facebook page. The facelifted Micra was globally unveiled in Thailand and recently made its official debut in the UK market. We recently test drove the new car and it seems that Nissan have put in quite an effort to give the Micra a new image. The car has mostly got cosmetic changes both on the inside and outside.
Exterior changes to the facelifted Micra includes new headlamps, a revised honeycomb front grille which now a V-shaped trough surrounding the Nissan logo. The front bumper has also been revised and features a new design for the fog lamps and the air dam. At the back, the Japanese automaker has redesigned the bumper as well as the tail light cluster which now features LEDs. The Micra also gets a new design for the alloy wheels.
Inside, Nissan has retained the same overall design but has fitted new panels with darker colours as well as revised the design of the central AC vents and the music system. Nissan has also revised some of the graphics for the information display system.
The underpinnings and engine line up remains exactly the same as the current Micra. This means the 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 75PS and 104Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre diesel mill producing 65PS and 160Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via five-speed manual gearbox. Nissan will now offer the X-tronic CVT gearbox with the Micra. This transmission option is already available with the Sunny, Scala and is likely to soon be offered with the Renault Pulse also.
We expect that Nissan will only slightly tweak the prices for the facelifted Micra and should launch it within the next month.
