Nissan will soon introduce more cars based on the Datsun Redi-Go CMF-A (Common Module family) platform. An update in this regard was revealed by Carlos Ghosn, chairman of the Renault-Nissan alliance at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
Nissan will be using the Redi-Go platform to introduce different body types – crossover, compact SUV, sedan, hatchbacks. The low cost platform will help the Japanese automaker launch feature-rich cars at a reasonable cost. In recent times, the Kwid hatchback has witnessed impressive sales owing to its unique style and features at a lucrative price. More body types being built on this platform would mean strengthening the brand’s presence in the Indian market.
The upcoming Nissan Redi-Go will compete against the likes of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon in India. The upcoming Datsun Redi-Go might be powered by either a 800cc engine borrowed from the Kwid or a 1.2-litre engine. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is expected to be offered with a decent number of features that will help it stand ahead of the competition.
