Nissan has launched a special edition of its GT-R supercar called the Track Edition. This special edition car has been designed with the sole purpose of making an already powerful and fast car even better. It features aerodynamic, mechanical and cosmetic changes.
The Track Edition features a specially tuned suspension, cooling upgrades, carbon fibre front and rear spoilers as well as carbon fibre air ducts. Nissan has said that the suspension was specially tuned by Nismo (Nissan’s racing division) at the Nurburgring. The car rides on specially made 16-inch wheels.
Inside, the GT-R loses the backseat in a bid to save weight but retains all the usual luxuries associated with the car. The seats have been trimmed in a blue and grey combination leather and fabric. The Japanese automaker has not specified any engine details but we believe that with all the mechanical changes and aerodynamic upgrades the car should be even more powerful than its powerful predecessor. Nissan has priced the car at 115, 710 USD (Rs 62.1 lakh) and only 150 units will brought to the American market.
Meanwhile, Nissan executive vice president Andy Palmer has told Autocar UK that he has driven a prototype of the upcoming Nismo GT-R and has claimed that it is the most powerful GT-R that has even been built. He has said that most of the changes to the car are aerodynamic and handling related and that the car’s retuned engine will produce more than 545PS that that the standard car produces.
The car is expected to make a debut Tokyo Motor Show and as confirmed by Carlos Ghosn, CEO of the Renault-Nissan alliance, it will go on sale by next year.
