The Nissan Micra X-Shift has been launched in India at Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This special edition Micra is based on the XL variant and comes with a current-generation CVT transmission.
The Micra X-Shift gets the Japanese manufacturer’s fourth-generation CVT gearbox from the Sunny, which can be adjusted in three modes. The ‘Sport’ mode allows you to hold the revs high for better performance, the regular mode aids efficiency, while the third, ‘Low’ mode, can be used while driving on steep inclines. The gearbox has helped Nissan bump up the hatchback’s efficiency to an ARAI certified 19.34kmpl. The Micra X-Shift comes with the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine, which puts out 76bhp and 104Nm of torque.
Cosmetically, the Micra X-Shift gets a blacked out roof, stripes on the doors and a small ‘X’ sticker on the mirrors. Inside, the Micra X-Shift gets a new multifunction steering wheel carried over from the Sunny and a driver arm rest. The audio console gets a glossy black finish while the door sills are illuminated.
The Nissan Micra X-Shift commemorates the hatchback’s fifth year of production in India, and will be produced in a limited run of just 750 units. The Micra X-Shift is Rs 65,000 cheaper than the XV variant of the Micra, which till now was the most affordable automatic car in Nisaan’s line-up. This makes Micra X-Shift a very attractive buy for customers looking for a hatchback with the convenience of an automatic gearbox. Besides the Micra X-Shift, Nissan has also launched an XL automatic variant of the Micra with the same CVT gearbox.
