Nissan has launched a new smartphone app called the ‘Nissan Micra iManual’ which acts like a user manual for its hatchback, the Micra. This application is compatible with android and apple devices and can be downloaded from the Google Play store and iTunes respectively.
The app is a convenient way of storing the complete 270-page manual on your smartphone. The app also integrates a feature using which you just have to click a photograph of any warning light/symbol on the dashboard with the phone-camera. It incorporates visual recognition software which then identifies the symbol and offers assistance on what the symbol signifies and what steps need to be taken.
A recent online survey of UK motorists by Nissan showed that which most owners stopped using their car’s manual when weren’t able to find the necessary information. Around 57 per cent of Nissan owners had consulted their manual at least once, but only 13 per cent turned back to it. 10 per cent motorists even admitted that they didn’t even know where their car-manual was.
We can expect Nissan India to launch the same application here due to heavy smartphone penetration and more number of car owners relying on their phone for GPS, music and Bluetooth.
