- Based on the same platform as the Terrano
- To sport a roomier cabin with premium features
- Will go on sale in January 2019
Nissan India will officially unveil the Kicks SUV for the Indian market at an event in Mumbai tomorrow. It will then be launched in January 2019 which is when the variant-wise prices will be announced.
The Nissan Kicks has tasted a fair bit of success in global markets and its India-spec model is all set to be introduced soon. Majority of its design cues are borrowed from the international-spec Kicks with dimensions similar to that of the Terrano. It’s based on the M0 platform that underpins the Terrano, Renault Duster and even the Captur.
The cabin of this five-seater Nissan Kicks is expected to be more premium and packed with even better features than the Terrano. The upcoming SUV is expected to come equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that should support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, it will get a digital instrument cluster along with multiple other interesting features.
On the powertrain front, we are expecting the Nissan Kicks to be offered with a choice of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. These should be good to produce 108bhp and 109bhp of power respectively. Both these engines will come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol mill might get an optional CVT as well.
The new Nissan Kicks is an important product for the carmaker as it will be positioned as a premium SUV in the brand's India portfolio. If priced between Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 14 lakhs, it will primarily go up against the Hyundai Creta. More on this from the official unveil event tomorrow. Stay tuned to CarWale.
