Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has revealed that the company will be launching the Kicks in India in 2018. Apart from the GT-R in December 2016, Nissan had not launched any new model after the Terrano in October 2013. The upcoming Kicks SUV will mark the start of fresh product launches in the country. Although the product line up will be global, it will be tweaked to suit Indian conditions.
The upcoming Nissan Kicks will be based on Renault’s MO platform which also unpins the Duster. It is believed that the upcoming model might replace the slow selling Terrano in India. Although the technical details have not been revealed for now, reports indicate that the new model might be powered by a 1.5-litre engine in petrol as well as diesel engine options. On the design aspect, the Kicks SUV is expected to get the modern Renault style elements in the form of a sloping roof design, roof rails and faux bash plates. Â
As for the interior, reports indicate that the Kicks will get dual tone upholstery, a seven-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and part-digital instrument cluster. The vehicle also gets a flat-bottom steering and automatic climate control. On the pricing aspect, it is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakhs and might compete against the upcoming Renault Captur in India. More details about the vehicle will be known in the days to come.
