The latest round of crash tests conducted by Latin NCAP has awarded a four star rating for Nissan Kicks. The vehicle has earned four stars for Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection. The vehicle loses out on scoring a complete five star as it showed unstable structural and footwell area performance in the frontal crash test, which also resulted in weak chest protection. However, the side impact protection features adequate to good protection as being enough in the overall results for four stars in Adult Occupant Protection.
In terms of safety features the Kicks gets two airbags, ABS, ESC, seatbelts with pretensioners and Isofix child seat mounts at the rear. The child occupants received good protection in the front and side impact due to the Child Restraint System (CRS) which come installed with ISOFIX anchorages. Signature elements in the design include the crossover stance, V-motion grille, diamond cut alloy wheels and the arrow-head shaped tail lamps. The American spec model gets a black cabin with silver inserts in the steering, AC vents and a touchscreen infotainment system.
In India, the Kicks will replace the Terrano and is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine which will come mated to an automated manual transmission. More details about the vehicle will be known in the days to come.
