- Conservative crossover styling
- Will be offered in various bright colours
- To be launched in January 2019
Nissan India has unveiled the Kicks SUV for the Indian market that will be launched at the start of next year. It's an important product that will help to reinforce Nissan as a premium mainstream brand with wide appeal, while also continuing to build on Nissan’s SUV heritage.
This India-spec Kicks is not completely different from the one available globally. The new SUV mimics the latest generation of the Qashqai and X-Trail with signature elements like the V-motion grille, a crossover stance, diamond cut alloy wheels and arrowhead-shaped tail lamps. There's a good use of chrome and it will be offered in a wide option of bright colours.
Nissan hasn't showcased the interior of the Kicks at the moment. But we know that the Kicks is a strict five-seater with all elements inside the cabin finished in black. There will be several contrasting silver and chrome accents inside for the AC vents, steering wheel, around the digital instrument cluster and touchscreen system. There will also be a seven-inch touchscreen display which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Thanks to its SUV design, the Kicks will also offer good space inside and with a large boot too.
The carmaker has not divulged any concrete details regarding what will power the Indian-spec Kicks. But we expect the Indian market to get both petrol and diesel engine options which currently powers the Duster. These 1.5-litre engine options will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission, with the petrol being offered with an optional CVT gearbox as well.
The Nissan Kicks is a premium offering and we expect it to be priced between Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 14 lakhs. It will go up against the Hyundai Creta and similar premium vehicles in this segment.
