Nissan India currently has a practical and efficient line-up of cars, but the brand needs to strengthen its dealership network so that their cars are made available to a wide range of consumers. In a bid to expand its foothold, Nissan India will soon inaugurate its 200th dealership.
This new facility will be located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, the brand is looking to have as many as 300 dealerships set up by the end of 2016, as a part of its aim of taking 5 per cent market share in India by 2020.
This aggressive dealership expansion approach is expected to bring some respite to Nissan India’s struggle in the Indian market. Despite being here for so long and boasting of a practical and efficient range of cars, Nissan hasn’t been able to crack the market the way they would have liked. Even the arrival of its budget brand Datsun didn’t do much for Nissan India.
With the ever expanding dealership network and some new products in the pipeline (including the Datsun GO facelift) Nissan India is adamant on a progressive growth in the foreseeable future. However, what the brand really needs to do now is cater to burgeoning market segments like the compact sedan and crossover.
