Nissan India has announced that it will raise the price of its entire range from 1st January, 2013. The Japanese automaker has attributed the hike to increase in the cost of inputs and currency fluctuation. However, the Japanese car maker has not specified the quantum of the hike.
Nissan is not the first company to announce hike starting January.Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Toyota, Maruti Suzuki and Chevrolet have all made similar announcements in last few days. It is a standard practice for manufacturers to announce price hike at the start of New Year, at the same time offering heavy discounts in December when the demand is relatively low. Last year was an exception to the above, when most companies opted to continue with same prices due to negative market sentiments.
