Nissan India will unveil the Renault Duster based Terrano compact SUV tomorrow at a function in Mumbai tomorrow. The vehicle which is based on the Renault Duster will be Nissan’s first attempt in the sub-10 lakh SUV segment and the last badge engineered product from the Franco-Japanese alliance. While Nissan has been revealing the car through various sketches, the production ready version was spotted sans camouflage on the 17th of this month. The pictures reveal that Nissan has gone to significant lengths to allow differentiation between both vehicles.
The Nissan Terrano gets a revised honeycomb grille and a very distinct headlight assembly along with restyled front bumpers. The big Nissan badge in the front makes the car look little bit aggressive. Mechanically, the Terrano will get a 1.6-litre petrol engine that churns out 102PS and 145Nm of torque. Like the Renault Duster, it will get a 1.5-litre diesel mill that will produce 85PS and 200Nm or 110PS and 245Nm.
The Terrano is likely to hit showrooms just after the launch as there have been images of the car in a Mumbai stockyard going around the internet. Nissan by the terms of its agreement with Renault on badge engineered products will price it higher than the Renault Duster by at least Rs 40, 000 depending on the variant. When launched, the Nissan Terrano will compete with the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport Mahindra XUV500 and the recently launched Force One SX variant.
